Dell Computer has a program with Goodwill called Dell Reconnect where used computers (including CRT monitors), of any brand in any condition, can be dropped off at participating Goodwill locations for free.

Some systems in working condition are refurbished and resold through Goodwill, creating green jobs to further support Goodwill’s mission of helping people with disabilities and disadvantages by providing education, training and career services.  In addition, this program allows Goodwill customers to purchase modern technology at an affordable cost.

Whatever parts cannot be reused or refurbished will be broken down securely and recycled responsibly.  Dell ensures no environmentally sensitive materials will be sent to landfills and no items will be exported to developing countries.

PUBLIC SAFETY INFORMATION

Allegheny County Health Deparment is reminding parents and providers that a regulation requiring all children in the county, unless otherwise exempted, to have their blood lead levels tested goes into effect on January 1, 2018. For more information: ACHD Lead Information

NORTHERN REGIONAL POLICE DEPARTMENT SCAM ALERT

The Northern Regional Police Department would like you to be aware of a “scam” recently brought to our attention.  Thieves are calling citizens and claiming a family member is in some type of trouble and they need money to pay for an attorney or to get them out of jail.  Many times the thief will ask the citizen to purchase gift cards or money orders and mail them or transfer funds.  If you would receive a call like this please contact the Northern Regional Police Department or your local police department as soon as possible.  We would be glad to verify if a family member is in fact in need of help.   A general rule of thumb is to never send money to anybody you did not initiate the transaction with.  Legitimate businesses will NEVER ask you to pay for services with third party gift cards.

PRESCRIPTION DRUG COLLECTION BOX

A prescription drug collection box has been permanently installed at the Northern Regional Police Department at 230 Pearce Mill Road, Wexford. Residents can bring prescription drugs to the station during regular office hours, Monday through Friday from 8:30 am to 4:00 pm. For information and inquiries, please call 724-625-3157.

ITEMS WE CANNOT ACCEPT:
Hydrogen Peroxide, Inhalers, Aerosol cans, ointments, needles, thermometers.
