Key Lock Box Ordinance

Township Ordinance 279 requires that a key lockbox be provided for any commercial building with a monitored fire alarm system. Key lock boxes are used by the fire company for access to a building to investigate an alarm occurring after regular business hours. The Township utilizes the Knox Company’s Knox Box product for our key lock box system. All boxes in the Township are keyed the same way so that the Fire Company only needs one key to utilize the system.

If you are working on a project that will require a Knox Box, you can contact the Fire Marshal for more information or request a Knox Box order form. Orders can also be placed online through Knox Box. When you go to place your order on the site, you will be prompted to select a fire department. We are listed as the Pine Fire Dept. After the order is placed, the Fire Marshal will then receive notification from the Knox Company to review and approve your order.

Public Education and Employee Training

Various fire prevention education programs can be provided to just about any group. The Fire Marshal speaks to hundreds of preschool and school aged children each year. If you’re school or group is looking for a fire prevention lesson, contact the Fire Marshal to set something up. Fire safety and extinguisher training can also be provided to any Township business. This training can be in lecture and Q and A format, hands on, or a combination of both. For hands on training with live fire, the business must be able to provide fire extinguishers.
